Betsoft Launched Frankenslot’s Monster Pokie Machine

frankenslots monster slot logoAfter the great success of its Jekyll and Dr. Hyde, Betsoft has decided to take another stab at a classic of English Literature, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein or The Modern Prometheus. Luckily for the less bookish of us, Frankenslot’s Monster is all about fun and landing big wins, so all those themes about man defying the natural order, and what it is to be human are all left aside.

This game’s visual design looks like a fun rework of the image that we most associate with Frankenstein, the sort of lighting and levers science lab from the Frankenstein movies with Boris Karloff in the first half of the twentieth century.

Betsoft Gaming started out initially as an iOS only developer, a wise move that allowed them to fill that market niche excellently before they branched out to develop games for other platforms, like Android OS devices and personal computers (played on web browsers, like Chrome, Firefox, or Internet Explorer).

What We Love

This game has a very good look to it, with a very fun 3D design. The characters, the monster and Dr Frankenslot, look easily recognizable, and have enough of their own style, their own goofiness, to make them look unique to the game. Kudos to Betsoft’s designers.

Frankenslot’s Monster is a very traditional game, in essence. Its features are very common ones, like Wilds and Scatter triggered free spin rounds. It does have a very unique feature, Bonus Game, which is very straightforward.

Wilds work just like in any other game, they can replace any other symbol (except scatter and bonus symbols) in order to help you complete combinations that you wouldn’t otherwise get, or make the ones you have even better. Free spin rounds are triggered by landing three scatter symbols on the reels, and you’ll be granted eight free spins.

During free spins, between one to three regular symbols can be turned into wilds, greatly boosting your chances at getting more and better combinations, and, logically, win more money.

Bonus Game might sound like another name for free spins, since it is used in that fashion in many other games. Here, however, is a very straightforward reward paying feature. Land three Bonus symbols on reels 1, 3, and 5 each (they only appear on those reels), and you’ll trigger the feature.

You’ll then proceed to having to select the voltage with which to electrify the monster (the poor thing that didn’t ask to be created by Frankenslot). Zapping the tragic creature will grant you a cash bonus. You start to wonder who the real monster here is…

What We Do Not Like

The game’s design is fun, but I felt it a bit childish at times. It looks more like a 3D rendering of a Saturday morning children’s cartoon, although that claim can be levelled at many other pokie machines nowadays.

The overall design can also look a bit crude, especially if we focus on things like the user interface. It seems that Betsoft took much more care crafting the character designs than the rest of the game.

The game’s features are pretty basic, the sort that you’d encounter in pretty much every other game out there nowadays. The Bonus Game is the only “unusual” feature, but it is not an unheard game mechanic, to be fully honest.

Worth Playing?

This game I can recommend, but not unconditionally. I have to attach an “if” to it. If you like classic games, and you’d like a classic-feeling game with 3D graphics, jump right in. This is your game. If you’re not that crazy about basic features, you might want to try something else, or dip your toes into demo play first.
