Frogged is a game that is offered by developers from Rival Gaming. It’s an interesting choice of theme that we found here, the game being based on the popular arcade title Frogger.

It was quite popular back in the day, in arcade gallerias from around the world, and the pokie relies on those fond memories that people have, and translates it into a pokie machine. The frog, along with various cars and trucks, will appear on the reels, so it will replicate the look of the arcade game quite well. What We Love

The vintage look of the game was perfectly captured, especially because the playing cards are actually designed to look that way, looking pixilated in this case. The themed symbols look a bit more regular, but they still fit in with the rest of the design very well. You have the road with three lanes supporting the three rows of symbols, the same number that you would’ve had in Frogger. At the top and the bottom of the screen there is green grass. I think Rival did an excellent job in bringing the look of that retro arcade title to a pokie machine, even though the gameplay doesn’t have that same connection.

One of the features which the game introduces is a wild that is capable of expanding upward. Being the one with the green frog, this wild jumps up, and turns all symbols that are above it into wilds. You can have an entire reel occupied by these wild symbols.

A scatter was included in the game as well, in the form of a bulldozer which can appear in any position. The only thing that matters is to have at least three such symbols, and you will get rewarded with 7 free spins and a cash prize. Expanding wilds apply 2x multipliers during the free games.

While in free spins mode, the 3+ Bulldozer scatters, if they appear again, will trigger another feature, a bonus game which has 7 free spins, but which has different symbols and sticky wilds. This feature is called River Rapids.

What We Do Not Like

The feature list is good, but a bit short for my tastes, with only a wild and a scatter for the base game. You can’t even trigger the River Rapids feature from the base game, you first need to be in free spins mode.

I didn’t like the top payout either, which offers a 750x prize, even though there are 20 lines, so it’s not like it has to compensate for a large number of ways to win. It’s one area where they could’ve done better.

Worth Playing?

The game has fantastic appeal for those that tried the Frogger arcade machine in the past, and have fond memories with it. Its prizes don’t really make it a great option for everyone else though.
